As a BRT Project Planner, you'll help bring MetroRapid to life-the first Bus Rapid Transit system ever developed by Metro and a transformational milestone for Cincinnati and the riders we serve.The position will report to the Senior Director of Bus Rapid Transit Planning and Design, to support the Reading Road, Hamilton Avenue and future BRT Corridors during all phases of project planning, design, construction and start-up. You'll work closely with project managers, consultants, internal teams, and community partners to keep projects moving forward-on schedule, on budget, and in alignment with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requirements.You assist the Senior Director in her day-to-day activities, including assisting in project management activities, including the oversight of project designers and contractors; preparing presentations for internal and external stakeholders; presenting at community meetings and events; and help Metro by ensuring the team is organized and activities are well documented and transparent.If you enjoy coordinating complex projects, collaborating across teams, and seeing your work make a visible impact in the community, this role is for you.BRT Project Planner Job Duties & QualificationsJob DutiesSupport planning, design, and engineering activities for BRT projects, including scheduling meetings, tracking action items, preparing materials, and assisting with reviews of plans and specificationsAssist with contract administration by organizing consultant deliverables, maintaining accurate project records, and supporting required documentationReview consultant invoices to ensure charges align with approved scopes, budgets, project funding, and general ledger codes; partnering with Grants and Finance to confirm complianceWork collaboratively with internal staff, consultant teams, and external stakeholders to gather information, document feedback, and communicate project goalsPrepare presentations, reports, briefing materials, and project updates for executive leadership, the SORTA Board, the STEER Committee, Metro Planning and Scheduling, the City of Cincinnati, and partner transit agenciesSupport grant-related activities by gathering data, compiling documentation, and assisting with submissions and reportingAssist with preparation of portions of the BRT annual budget and tracking expenditures throughout the yearHelp develop and maintain project procedures, checklists, and best-practice documentation to promote consistency across BRT projectsCoordinate project activities across planning, design, pre-construction, construction, and early start-up phases to ensure timely communication and task completionCoordinate with other SORTA departments and external agencies to support successful project deliveryBuild strong relationships with community partners and represent Metro at community and stakeholder meetings, as assignedProvide general administrative, organizational, and coordination support to the BRT teamSupport the Strategic Planning, Development, and Innovation Department with additional job functions and special projects, as needed.Model exemplary internal and external customer service.Provide a positive work environment that does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty or status as a covered veteran.Ability to work in compliance with Metro's safety and security policies.Complete special projects and other duties as assignedEducation* Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering (strongly preferred), Urban Planning, Community Planning, Communications, Marketing, Project Management, Public Administration, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.Experience* Two (2) to four (4) years of professional experience with a focus on project coordination, project management support, planning, infrastructure, capital projects, or related work.* Experience in a public sector or transit agency environment is preferred but not required.Skills & AbilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate and summarize complex information into clear, compelling messagesHighly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePointExperience in scheduling and coordinating meetings using tools such as Microsoft Bookings or similar platformsExperience with data analysis and data visualization, including compiling large datasets and creating concise reports and presentationsAbility to create visually appealing charts, graphs, and presentations using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, or CanvaWorking knowledge of GIS and data-related applications preferredExperience with project management software such as ProCore is a plusFamiliarity with infrastructure or capital projects in a transit or public agency environment is helpful, but not requiredConfident public speaking, writing, and presentation skillsAbility to attend evening community or stakeholder meetings as neededBRT Project Planner Work Environment* In-office work environment, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.* Attendance at approximately two evening community council or stakeholder meetings per month, typically between 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.Why Choose a Career at Metro?Compensation* Salary is negotiable based on experiencePerks and BenefitsComprehensive Health Coverage - Medical, dental, and vision benefits available starting day one (enrollment required within 30 days of hire)Retirement You Can Rely On - Participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) with a 14% employer contribution and 10% employee contribution.
