Senior Backend Engineer | SF (Hybrid) | Up to $250K + meaningful equity | Series A | Small teamA freshly Series A-funded startup building one of the most technically ambitious platforms in the security data space is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the core of it.The problem they're solving: security teams are drowning in data. Traditional tooling is slow, expensive, and forces teams to hand over custody of their own logs. They've built a search and detection engine that lets teams query years of data in seconds, at a fraction of the cost, while keeping full ownership of their data in their own cloud storage.The engineering challenges are real: petabyte-scale full-text search, distributed query execution, novel indexing approaches, and high-throughput ingestion pipelines, all written in Rust.What you'll work on:Distributed query execution across massive datasets, storage and indexing architecture built on S3, high-throughput log ingestion pipelines, and performance work that has direct, measurable impact on customers.What they're looking for:Hands-on experience with systems languages — Rust, C/C++, Go, or similarFamiliarity with database internals, distributed systems, or data pipelinesStartup experience, or a genuine preference for small, high-trust teams with real ownership5+ years in backend engineering, with a lean toward infrastructure or low-level workBased in or willing to commute to San Francisco on a hybrid basis (important to the team in the near term)The teamSmall, scaling, and high-trust.
