About the Role Project Engineer. Transdev North America, Inc. Responsibilities Provide on-field and office engineering support by performing construction and maintenance inspections and supervision of Transdev rail operations. Review bid proposal specifications, drawings and existing site conditions to determine the scope of rail work. Attend pre-bid meetings and actively participate in discussions regarding project requirements and expectations. Oversee the good faith effort process and effectively communicate the DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) requirements to the estimating team. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including construction drawings, specifications, permits, and quality control records. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitate smooth project execution. Coordinate bid preparation requirements with the Contract Administrator to ensure accurate and timely submission of bids. Perform contract management responsibilities as required, reporting findings to the Chief Estimator and Project Manager. Track work history, documenting project progress and milestones for reference and reporting purposes. Coordinate pre-bid RFIs prior to the specification deadline, facilitating clarification and addressing any queries. Support the Chief Estimator in calculating a complete takeoff of the scope of work, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in cost estimation. Monitor post-bid submission dates toward contract procurement, staying informed of the progress and next steps. Coordinate the scope of work with other divisions and subcontractors, fostering effective collaboration and streamlined project execution. Interface with owners and other contractors to provide engineering and costing regarding project feasibility, contributing to informed decision-making. Support the Project Manager in the preparation of budgets, subcontracts, purchase orders and assist in preliminary project schedules, contributing to efficient project planning and resource allocation. Supervise construction activities on-site, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and field teams to resolve any issues that may arise. Support PM in Project management, which includes estimating extra work items, change orders, procuring materials, monitoring progress, and managing cost/budget and revenue. Annual Salary Range $100,000 to $120,000 per year. Required Education Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Required Experience Demonstrated knowledge of railway engineering, alignment of rail lines, track stresses and fittings, design of track, and resistance to traction. Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Quantity Takeoff (QTO). Knowledge may be gained during post-secondary degree program. Travel to domestic worksites: 5-10%.
