Diesel Truck Mechanic
Job descriptionJOB SUMMARY:The diesel truck mechanic is responsible for maintaining the diesel equipment in the fleet while ensuring all safety requirements are met. This includes repair and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Perform all types of repair and PM work on tractors and trailers2. Performs standard vehicle maintenance3. Performs standard component inspections and repairs4. Performs preventive maintenance and warranty work on equipment5. Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable6. Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required7. Replaces defective components as instructed8. Performs facility maintenance duties9. Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task10. Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT)11. Maintain a clean and organized workspace12. Abide by and provide feedback for continuous improvement of all EHSS policies, procedures, and safe work practices.13. Additional duties as assignedEXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Air conditioning and brake certificationsPrevious experience with engine and electrical diagnosticsDriver's License required, Class A CDL preferredPrevious welding experience preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredPost-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
