Maintenance Operator, Mechanical - Rolling Mill/Finishing
Job DescriptionAbout the PositionThe Mechanical Maintenance Operator is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving industrial equipment and facilities. This role combines millwright skills, welding expertise, and basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and industrial systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations while supporting troubleshooting and process improvements in a team environment.Main Responsibilities Perform the essential functions of a millwright with extensive welding applications Stick/Mig welding experience (overhead) Perform basic maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial environment. Perform basic plumbing and pipefitting skills (ie. perform structural repairs to buildings, platforms, machinery, utility piping and structures at times in elevated positions). Perform maintenance engineering functions and repairs for all plant mechanical equipment. Possess basic knowledge of industrial electricity and understanding of how a PLCs’ interacts with the hydraulic systems and the operators. Install modifications to existing equipment as required Work in a team-oriented facility Assist in the development of solutions to operating problems and improvements to the processes as required Perform administrative tasks as may be assigned from time to time Required EducationEducation, Experience, and Competencies High School diploma or equivalent GED or HSE Preferred Education Associates degree or certificate in mechanical or electrical field Required Experience Strong Mechanical background Minimum of 2 years of heavy industrial experience Preferred Experience Heavy industry mechanical experience with basic PLC/electrical understanding. In addition, strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Pass Stick overhead 3G welding test.
