General Manager
Own and lead full branch performance for a high-volume NVOCC and freight forwarding operation near JFK, with responsibility for P&L, operations, client growth, and strategic direction. This role will drive revenue expansion, operational efficiency, and service excellence across air and ocean import activities, while building and scaling a high-performing team.This is a key leadership position with high visibility, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a critical gateway location and play a central role in the company’s U.S. growth strategy.ResponsibilitiesOwn full P&L performance for the branch, driving revenue growth, margin improvement, and cost optimizationLead, develop, and scale a cross-functional team across import operations, customs brokerage, and customer serviceDrive business growth, partnering with commercial teams to expand key accounts, increase shipment volume, and identify new revenue opportunitiesOversee end-to-end air and ocean import operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality service deliveryAct as senior escalation point for key clients, strengthening relationships and ensuring long-term retention and satisfactionEstablish and enforce KPIs, creating accountability around service levels, productivity, and financial performanceIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer experienceOversee NVOCC operations including consolidations, routing strategy, and carrier relationships to optimize cost and service levelsLeverage operational and financial data to drive decision-making, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiativesEnsure full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations and international trade requirements, maintaining audit readiness and operational integrityMaintain a strong culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement aligned with OSHA and regulatory standardsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Business, or related field8–12+ years of experience in freight forwarding, NVOCC operations, or customs brokerageDemonstrated success owning or influencing P&L performance, including revenue growth and cost managementStrong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, and international trade complianceExperience managing NVOCC operations, including consolidations, routing, and carrier relationshipsLicensed Customs Broker (preferred) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)Experience with logistics platforms such as CargoWise or similar systemsProven ability to build client relationships, resolve complex issues, and drive customer retention and growthStrong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with a hands-on, results-oriented approach
