Automotive Inventory Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Automotive Inventory Manager to oversee the complete lifecycle of our vehicle inventory. This role is responsible for the physical and digital management of vehicles from arrival to delivery, ensuring accurate records, professional presentation, efficient servicing flow, and an organized, customer-ready lot at all times.
This position plays a critical role in inventory accuracy, sales efficiency, and dealership appearance.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Inventory Management
Track all new and used vehicle inventory from arrival through sale or transfer
Maintain accurate vehicle locations (on-lot, service, detail, off-site, or in transit)
Ensure VINs, stock numbers, and vehicle statuses are correct in the DMS and inventory systems
Photography & Online Presentation
Coordinate and/or capture high-quality vehicle photos for online listings
Ensure photos are current, accurate, and professionally presented
Monitor listings for completeness and accuracy (pricing, descriptions, features, condition)
Service & Reconditioning Coordination
Schedule vehicles for inspection, reconditioning, detailing, and recalls
Monitor service progress to minimize days-to-line and days-in-inventory
Communicate with service, detail, and sales departments on vehicle readiness
Lot Organization & Appearance
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing vehicle lot
Ensure vehicles are parked in assigned locations and properly staged
Monitor signage, window stickers, and vehicle labeling for accuracy
Inventory Audits & Reporting
Conduct regular physical lot audits to reconcile inventory records
Identify and resolve discrepancies in location, status, or condition
Provide inventory aging, availability, and readiness updates to management
Cross-Department Coordination
Work closely with Sales, Service, Detail, and Accounting teams
Support vehicle deliveries, dealer trades, and off-site storage coordination
Qualifications & Skills
Prior experience in automotive inventory, sales operations, or dealership operations preferred
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple vehicles and priorities
Comfortable using dealership software (DMS, inventory tools, photo apps)
Ability to work independently and take ownership of inventory accuracy
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to walk the lot daily and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to drive and park vehicles safely and efficiently
Occasional lifting or moving signage and vehicle materials
