SummaryAssemble rigging and operate heavy equipment to lift and move equipment and materials.Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices. Select cables, blocks, according to the weight and size of the load to be moved. Attach loads (primarily steel) with grappling devices such as loops and chains to the crane hook. Set up, brace and rig the hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. Install hooks, swivels, and turnbuckles. Install appropriate clamps and other supporting structures for the rigging gear. Position chain falls or hoists, air pullers, clock, and tackle as directed. Pull or slack off on rigging, following hand signals, to maneuver equipment in close quarters. Lay keel and bilge blocks while the barge is in drydock. Give directions to crane operators engaged in hoisting loads using hand signals as well as radio (if directed by the Rigger Foreman). Trained in ariel manlift and fall protection Use of cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, wires, chains, crane hooks, braces, power wrenches, angle iron, steel parts, turnbuckles, jacks, pulley blocks, chain falls, rollers, assorted hand tools, as well as various other rigging equipment and devices. One year of related experience preferred.CompensationThe base pay range for this role is $31 – $39 per hour.
