In this hands-on engineering role, you will collaborate with cross-functional development teams to design, code, model, and validate embedded software solutions that power turf equipment and compact utility tractors. Utilizing C/C++ and MATLAB / Simulink / Stateflow Model-Based Design, you will deliver software features, conduct CAN/J1939 network communications, and test applications directly on physical vehicle platforms.Key Responsibilities:Embedded Application Development: Develop, code, and configure embedded software applications in C / C++ and MATLAB Simulink / Stateflow.System Architecture & Design: Perform requirements analysis, operational concept development, component integration, and design reviews for turf and compact tractor feature sets.CAN & Vehicle Networking: Implement and troubleshoot embedded vehicle communication protocols, specifically CAN bus / J1939 networks.Unit & Functional Testing: Perform software unit testing, functional validation, and vehicle platform testing (including mowers and utility vehicles) to isolate and resolve software bugs.Agile Integration: Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and software delivery workflows within an Agile development environment.Required Qualifications & Skills:Experience: 1 to 3+ years of mid-career embedded software development experience (No recent grads).Core Technical Stack: Proficient in embedded software programming using C or C++ and Model-Based Design tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow).Embedded OS & Hardware: Solid understanding of embedded operating systems, microcontrollers, drivers, and reading electrical schematics/datasheets.Network Protocols: Practical experience with CAN / J1939 automotive/agricultural communication networks.Safety & Field Requirements: Willingness to wear Metatarsal safety boots (expensable) and drive personal vehicle (2–15 miles) or operate test mowers/equipment during vehicle platform testing.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.Stand-Out Skills (Preferred):Experience with control systems design and analysis on agricultural or heavy machinery applications.Exposure to automotive/industrial protocols such as LIN or Ethernet.Hands-on experience using lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers) and embedded emulators/simulators.Familiarity with CI/CD build automation tools for embedded systems.Actual Skills Required:Embedded C / C++ Software DevelopmentMATLAB, Simulink & Stateflow Model-Based DesignCAN Bus & J1939 Vehicle Networking ProtocolsEmbedded Hardware/OS Concepts & Schematic ReadingUnit, Functional & On-Vehicle Platform Testing
