You will work with patients ranging from young adults to seniors. Compliance with credentialing, privileging, and other monitoring requirements is essential. Physicians are expected to uphold high clinical standards in decision-making and continuously enhance their teaching abilities to effectively instruct fellows, residents, and medical students. Additionally, you will oversee physician assistants and nurse practitioners within the department and adhere to current medical record documentation standards and residency supervision protocols.Scope of PracticeThe responsibilities outlined above contribute to delivering quality patient care. The hematology/oncology physician will provide care and treatment for patients referred to the section, both in inpatient and outpatient environments. This includes administering outpatient chemotherapy and immunotherapy in the on-site infusion suite and managing any related reactions. Occasionally, you may perform bone marrow aspirations/biopsies (primarily conducted by physician assistants/nurse practitioners) and supervise fellows in these procedures.Clinical CompetenceDemonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in direct patient care or supervision, including conducting examinations, diagnosing conditions, managing emergencies, and providing patient education.Maintain a high level of proficiency in procedures, ensuring complication rates remain below national averages.Recognize and support patients' independence, encouraging questions during treatment and allowing time for patients to process information.Supervision of Fellows and ResidentsUphold high teaching standards through direct patient care experiences in clinics, inpatient wards, ICUs, and the Oncology Section.Utilize resident supervision reports, teaching evaluations, and performance improvement assessments to gauge effectiveness.Supervise house staff and effectively teach rotating house staff in patient wards while serving as attending physician.Participate in the clerkship program by precepting medical students.Work ScheduleMonday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.Community OverviewWhite River Junction, Vermont, and the surrounding "Upper Valley" area offer a picturesque living environment with stunning mountains, rivers, and a wide range of outdoor activities such as swimming, boating, skiing, hiking, and biking.
