Our client, the McGregor Fund, a grantmaking organization, seeks a Staff Accountant. Since 1925, the founding mission of the McGregor Fund has been "to relieve the misfortunes and improve the well-being of humankind." Today, the fund continues the McGregors' legacy by centering racial equity and by embracing the work of racial justice in their grantmaking.Job OverviewThe Nonprofit Accountant provides reliable support for a full spectrum of accounting and finance-related functions while also supporting the McGregor Fund's administrative and grantmaking operations-related activities.The successful candidate will be able to accurately analyze and record complex monthly and quarterly financial data and investment transactions. The candidate should also be able to create reports that clearly and concisely inform staff and the Board. Additionally, this person should be personally aligned with McGregor's mission and values and committed to racial equity and justice.This position offers flexibility with remote work; however, this is a hybrid role as staff attend biweekly in-person staff meetings and quarterly board and committee meetings. Additional in-office presence may be required as needed. An office space is available for those who prefer or need to work on-site.Key ResponsibilitiesFinanceAssist the Director of Finance & Investments with finance and accounting functions, including investment accounting, account reconciliation, accounts payable, cash flow management, and reporting to the Board of Trustees and its committeesSupport the Director of Finance & Investments in preparing backup and support for tax filings such as 990-PF, 990-T, K-1 Reconciliation, and other state, local, and federal tax filingsAssist the Director of Finance & Investments in audit preparationDevelop reports and support the development and monitoring of the Fund’s budget, conducting necessary research and investigationProcess general and administrative payments, grants, and other accounts payable using an electronic payment platformGrants AdministrationSchedule and coordinate grant payments in consultation with the Director of Finance & Investments and the program teamPrepare periodic reports summarizing grant payment commitments and grant payables for current and future yearsGeneral AdministrationContribute to supporting the Fund's IT systems, hardware, and vendor managementSupport the Director of Finance and Investments in preparing materials for and staffing the Investment and Audit Committee meetingsProvide general office support and perform other duties as directed by the Director of Finance and Investments or the PresidentRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in AccountingTwo years of experience in accounting, tax, or financeExcellent technical support skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, accounting software, and data entry.
