JCDSS is responsible for providing Child Protective Services, Foster Care and Adoptions, LINKS, ICPC, Services for Adults and Disabled individuals, Adult Protective Services, Guardianship, determining eligibility for Public Assistance (TANF, Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, LIEAP, Crisis Intervention, Daycare, General Assistance) and a full range of social and support services to eligible recipients.Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for a Social Work Supervisor III – Intake.Preference will be given to applicants with prior Child Welfare experience and/ or completion of mandatory Child Welfare training within the last 3 years.It is preferred that a copy of an unofficial transcript be attached to the application at time of submission for qualification purposes. Please note should a transcript not be attached; it may be requested.Note: If selected for an interview you will need to bring a copy of your most recent annual performance evaluation to the interview.Duties and ResponsibilitiesJohnston County Department of Social Services is seeking a Family-Centered, policy-driven Intake Supervisor to supervise a unit of Intake Social Workers. The Social Work Supervisor III will occasionally assist in supervising a sub-unit or team composed of Social Workers who provide direct services to clients. The position requires considerable guidance to social work staff in case consultation, screening of Child Protective Services Intake reports, providing supervision and monitoring of social workers' compliance with agency policies and procedures, coordinating workflow operations, and case review through staffing, direct consultation, and record monitoring. The Social Work Supervisor III will report directly to the Child Welfare Program Manager. Social Work Supervisor III will screen alleged reports of abuse, neglect, and/or dependency as to what, if any, level of crisis intervention is indicated. The Social Work Supervisor III will assign reports warranting investigation to social workers in accordance with G.S. 7B-101 and oversee the ensuing investigations conducted in accordance with agency, state, and federal mandates. This Social Work Supervisor III will conduct sub-unit team staffing and participate in unit staffing at the discretion of the CPS Program Manager. The Social Work Supervisor will supervise vertically within their sub-unit teams and consult horizontally within the Children's Services Unit to ensure all caretakers and juveniles are provided appropriate services in the most expedient and judicious manner possible.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatments and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.Desired Education and ExperienceMaster's degree in social work from an accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited institution and three years of directly related experience.OrA Master's degree in a human services field from an accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a Bachelor degree in a human services field and four years of directly related experience; or a Bachelor degree from an accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred QualificationsApplicants with a strong background in Child Welfare policy & previous supervisory experience in a social work program within a county department of social services; extensive front-line experience in a county department of social services in North Carolina preferably in Child Welfare.*Please document all work history relevant to the position for which you are applying.
