Hours/Days – Typically, 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Position based out of the Bend Bear Creek Maintenance yard located at the base of Pilot Butte The overarching purpose of COIC's transportation program is to strengthen regional transportation services and infrastructure through the development and implementation of regionally-based transportation plans, administration and operations, service coordination, and project development. A regional approach to transportation enhances efficiencies among transportation organizations and ensures regional connectivity for Central Oregon's residents, businesses, and visitors. Perform day-to-day operational and preventative maintenance for all vehicles, to include, but not limited to the inspection, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of a variety of light, medium and heavy duty vehicles and equipment. Thorough knowledge of automotive mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, wheelchair lifts, automotive HVAC systems; price trends and grades or quality of materials and equipment. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to municipal maintenance and repair activities. Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in modern equipment maintenance. Skill in operation of required tools and equipment. Ability to establish and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs, policies and procedures. Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, vendors and the public. Must pass a criminal background and driving background check. Must have or attain a valid Oregon Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted within 6 months of hire date as an essential function of the position. Valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle or equivalent means of transportation. Must successfully pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen. Must provide own basic hand tools used in the repair of vehicles and equipment. Work independently and effectively without close supervision. Effective verbal and written communication skill.
