Roger Carter Assistant Swim Team Coach - Recreation & Parks

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Under the immediate supervision of the Head Swim Team Coach, the Assistant Swim Team Coach is responsible for assisting in the planning of swim meets and practices, promotion, operation, and supervision of the swim team.1. Accept responsibility for the physical safety and wellbeing of the participants2. Inspect all areas used by the participants on a daily basis for potentially hazardous conditions3. Maintain accurate attendance records4. Maintain behavioral guidelines and discipline. Enforce all center rules and regulations.5. Communicate clearly and courteously with center staff, participants and parents as needed6. Assist with the planning and organization of swim meets7. Help acquire volunteers for each meet8. Plan and run practices9. Set up and take down lane lines and other necessary equipment10. Call participants as necessary to disseminate information or cancel practice in case of inclement weather.11. Wear appropriate uniform/clothing.12. Attend all trainings and meets.13. Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by Head Coach, Facility Director, or Aquatics Coordinator.14. Complete all necessary paperwork to include incident and accident reports.15. Work weekends, evenings holidays and swim meets as needed.SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:Must possess CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED and Water Safety Instructor Certifications preferred.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.Possess good communication and leadership skills.Must be 18 years old.EXPERIENCE:* Must have previous experience with swim teams (i.e. coach or member).* Previous experience in planning of swim team meets and practices, promotion, operation and supervision of swim teams preferred.EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalentRATE OF PAY: Contingent - ParaprofessionalMinimum Wage - $17.00/hour depending on experience
