Superintendent - Special Projects Group

Brief DescriptionThe Superintendent is responsible for the on-site supervision, coordination and execution of commercial construction projects ranging from approximately $5-$15 million. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, company standards and applicable regulations. The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, inspections and daily site operations.Project Size: $5-$15 millionMarket Sectors: Commercial (office, retail, mixed-use, light industrial, etc.)Project Types: Remodels, Renovations, Small Ground-Up and Tenant ImprovementsEssential Functions/Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Compliance:Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations Ensure pre-task plans, daily inspections, Toolbox Talks, site orientations, etc. are completedAddress safety issues immediately and document incidents as requiredSite Management & Project ExecutionCreate and maintain the project’s master schedule using MS Project in coordination with the PMWork with project team to assess and resolve constructability issues proactivelyCoordinate construction sequencing and material deliveriesMaintain proper on-site documentation, including daily reports, inspections, safety records, etc.Oversee the quality control plan for the projectInspect work in progress to ensure compliance with project requirementsArrange all job site inspections, commissioning, etc.Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and suppliersConduct preconstruction and subcontractor coordination meetings Supervise R&H employees, including completing evaluations, addressing performance issues, etc.Manage punch list and ensure timely completion of workDrive to/from jobsite, office, meetings, etc.Scheduling & ReportingMaintain 2-week look ahead schedulesTrack labor, productivity and material deliveriesProvide regular progress updates and reports to project teamIdentify potential schedule impacts and corrective actionsCommunicationAct as a liaison between the owner, architect, subcontractors, and R&H project team membersCoordinate information and documentation (RFIs, submittals, field changes, etc.) between R&H, owners, architects, and subcontractorsBuild relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractorsCommunicate tasks clearly and respectfully to R&H employees and subcontractorsRequirementsQualifications/SkillsStrong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencingThorough knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and inspection processesStrong communication skills - written and oralStrong leadership skills – ability to manage multiple subcontractors and schedules simultaneouslyAble to read and interpret project drawings and specificationsAttention to detail, analytical approach to problemsCurrent knowledge of safety regulations and codesStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to use independent judgment and independent actionValid driver’s license and clean driving record requiredEducation/Experience5-10+ years of experience supervising commercial construction projectsProven experience managing projects in the $5-$15 million rangeProficient with construction scheduling software (ex. Additionally, there is frequent sitting/standing at a desk.Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily field based at active construction sites. It requires working outdoors in all types of weather. It requires walking, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods, at times in confined spaces. Work occurs on ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations. Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and unpleasant variation in temperature. Work requires lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some positions require working around chemicals and caustic compounds. R&H will provide all necessary personal protective equipment to keep you safe. Regional travel may be required.
