Assistant Supervisor- Team Lead

Job Description We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Supervisor / Team Lead for the metal finishing department of a growing structural steel fabrication facility. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on helping coordinate daily production activities, supporting the department supervisor, and ensuring finished steel products meet quality and production standards.This is not a direct management position, but candidates must be comfortable leading by example, assisting with workflow coordination, training newer employees, and helping keep production moving efficiently throughout the shift.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal finishing, material handling, forklift operation, and overhead crane usage within a structural steel or heavy fabrication environment.ResponsibilitiesAssist with coordinating daily workflow within the metal finishing departmentSupport production scheduling and help prioritize work throughout the shiftLead by example in a hands-on production environmentOperate forklifts and overhead cranes to move structural steel materials safely and efficientlyAssist with loading, unloading, staging, and transporting steel componentsInspect finished materials to ensure quality standards are metHelp maintain organization and cleanliness within the departmentCommunicate with fabrication, welding, shipping, and production teams to keep jobs movingAssist with training and onboarding newer employeesFollow and enforce all company safety procedures and policiesQualificationsPrevious experience in a structural steel fabrication or heavy industrial manufacturing environment requiredStrong metal finishing experience requiredExtensive forklift and material handling experience requiredOverhead crane experience requiredAbility to read shop drawings and work orders preferredComfortable working in a fast-paced production environmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet throughout the shiftReliable attendance and strong work ethic requiredWhat We OfferCompetitive pay based on experienceStable full-time schedule with consistent hoursOpportunity to grow into higher-level leadership rolesTeam-oriented work environmentLong-term career opportunity within a growing fabrication operation Company DescriptionSTL is a Technical Employment AgencyCompany DescriptionSTL is a Technical Employment Agency
