Cost Accountant

What we make Witzenmann USA produces flexible metal components for automotive, industrial and commercial vehicles and is currently ramping up programs for valve manufacturing, semi-conductor manufacturing and other non-automotive industries. What you can expect This Cost Accountant works as a member of our greater finance team and builds strong relationships with our sales and engineering groups. The successful candidate can expect their primary responsibilities to include costing and analysis as well as some general accountant and project accounting duties on a regular basis. What are the Job Duties? Standard Costing Analyze and update manufacturing cost allocations annually and ensure factors used in the allocation process are based on the most appropriate cost drivers. Develop and execute an internal audit process to ensure accuracy of bill of materials, labor allocation and of rates/factors used to allocate manufacturing costs. Data Collection & Analysis Analyze revenues and costs for all part numbers monthly. Identify selling price and cost variances. Work with Operations to investigate and resolve root causes of variances. Determine direct material costs and contribution margins for all part numbers, as part of the annual business plan creation. Liaise with the local Operations team to determine, quantify, and report productivity improvement initiatives for Witzenmann Group’s “Measure Tracker” annually. Gather data needed for and calculate claimable Research & Development (R&D) tax credit as part of the annual federal income tax filing. Work with the company’s external CPA firm on the R&D tax credit determination process. Provide analytical support within the department and to other key stakeholders within the company as needed. Reporting Report actual cost savings from productivity initiatives in the Measure Tracker maintained by Witzenmann GmbH monthly. Report labor hours and cost center data to Witzenmann GmbH monthly. Work with the local Operations and Quality teams on tracking of various productivity KPIs. Report Witzenmann USA’s Producer Price Index related data to the Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly or as requested. General Accounting Reconcile all cash and bank balances daily. Reconcile all prepaid accounts and other general ledger accounts monthly. Prepare year-end audit papers related to COGS, revenues, and inventory. Project Accounting Track actual project expenses against pre-approved capital budgets and escalate budget overages to the Project Management team. Organize and facilitate the monthly project tracking meetings. Administrative Tasks Occasional lifting may be required to support activities Upholding all company safety expectations All other duties as assigned Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in related field. Three years works experience in accounting within a manufacturing environment including a minimum of 1 year cost accounting. ERP experience is required, SAP is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent presentation skills Work with minimal direction and make decisions independently.
