This position is designed to deliver high-quality instruction in both theoretical and practical applications, leveraging advanced teaching methodologies to ensure student success in the classroom, clinical practicum, simulation, and skills laboratory settings.As a key contributor to the academic success of students, the Instructor is responsible for:Setting and achieving educational objectives tailored to student needsProviding ongoing mentorship and fostering a supportive learning environmentTracking student attendance and progress to ensure alignment with program goalsMaintaining professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff to optimize educational outcomesParticipating in professional development initiatives, including training and continuing education in instructional methodsThis role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of future healthcare professionals, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in clinical and laboratory environments.Deliver assigned classes using prescribed courses of study, established texts, and instructional materialsEnsure the classroom and laboratory environments are maintained in optimal physical conditionSupervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, ensuring adherence to course requirementsReview and manage medical supply inventory for laboratory experiencesProvide hands-on instruction through demonstrations and competency evaluationsAssess student learning by evaluating proficiency in return demonstrations and providing feedbackManage simulation scenarios and evaluate student responses for critical thinking and applicationConduct CPR instruction in alignment with American Heart Association guidelinesFacilitate patient communication and human relations trainingTeach phlebotomy techniques, including venous and capillary draws, and centrifuge operationsInstruct on ECG and Peak Flow Monitoring proceduresProvide training on suture removal and injection techniques (subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular)Guide students in obtaining vital signs and measurements, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse, and pulse oximetryTrain students in triage, critical thinking, and patient documentation practicesPerform and instruct point-of-care testing, including HCG, Mono, Strep, Urinalysis, Blood Glucose, and HematocritPrepare lab specimens for transport and assist with general and specialized examinationsProvide instruction on sterile instrument decontamination, wrapping, and sterilization techniquesTeach medication administration, including various routes and buffering/reconstitution for injectionsEnsure proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques, including handwashing and decontaminationTrain students in proper PPE use, maintenance, and disposal practicesEducate on safety protocols, biohazard waste disposal, and sharps managementComply with mandated reporting requirements for communicable diseasesDegree or post-secondary education and relevant experience meeting state (TWC) and ABHES accreditation standardsMinimum of 3-5 years of practical experience, with teaching experience preferredCurrent certification, registration, or licensure as a Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Medical Doctor (M.D.)Current Basic Life Support Provider-Instructor Certification through the American Heart AssociationCHCP (The College of Health Care Professions) is a premier healthcare education institution offering comprehensive programs in allied health, nursing, and related fields.
