Position Overview
The organization seeks aChief Technology Officer (CTO)to lead the strategic direction, modernization, and execution of its technology platforms and infrastructure. The CTO will serve as a member of the senior leadership team and will ensure that technology initiatives support the organization's mission, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement.
A key priority for this role will beassessing, overseeing and improving the organization's publishing platform , which is central to delivering authoritative accounting guidance and related content to stakeholders. The CTO will also guide the organization inevaluating and deploying artificial intelligence capabilitiesthat enhance research, content delivery, and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will bring aclient-service mindset , strong leadership abilities, and the ability tocommunicate complex technological concepts in simple, clear languageto both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy and Leadership
Develop and execute acomprehensive technology strategyaligned with the organization's mission and long-term objectives.
Serve as theprimary technology advisorto senior leadership and the Board.
Ensure technology initiativesimprove organizational efficiency , accessibility, and stakeholder engagement.
Foster a culture ofcollaboration, innovation, and service orientationwithin the technology function.
Publishing Platform Modernization
Lead theassessment ,design, development, and implementation of a resilient publishing platformto support digital content delivery, research, and stakeholder engagement.
Evaluate and implement technologies that improve thesearchability, usability, and accessibilityof published content.
Partner with standard setters, editorial, research, and communications teams to ensure the platform meets organizational needs.
Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies
Identify and implementAI capabilitiesthat enhance publishing, research, and operational workflows.
Assess opportunities for AI in areas such as:Knowledge retrieval and research tools
Content generation and summarization
Workflow automationEstablish governance and best practices for responsible and secure use of AI and other emerging technologies.
Project Execution and Operational Excellence
Oversee the planning and execution of major technology initiatives, ensuring they aredelivered on time and within budget .
Implement project management and governance frameworks to support complex initiatives.
Manage vendor relationships, technology procurement, and contract negotiations.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
Lead and mentortechnology professionals , fostering professional growth and accountability.
Work closely with leadership and staff across the organization to understand operational needs and deliver effective technology solutions.
Promote aclient-service culturewithin the technology team.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
Translate complex technical issues intoclear, actionable insightsfor leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
Deliver effectivepresentations to executive leadership and Board committees .
Serve as a trusted partner to internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications
Required
Significant leadership experience intechnology strategy and execution , preferably in mission-driven organizations, professional services, publishing, or knowledge organizations.
Demonstrated experiencemodernizing digital publishing platforms or large content delivery systems .
Strong understanding ofartificial intelligence technologies and practical applicationswithin enterprise environments.
Proven ability tomanage complex technology projectsand deliver resultson time and within budget .
Exceptionalcommunication and presentation skills , with the ability to explain complex technologies simply.
Collaborative leadership style with aclient-service mindset .
Experience leading and developinghigh-performing technology teams .
Preferred
Experience working within asenior corporate environment, not for profit or professional membership organizations .
Familiarity withenterprise content management systems, digital research platforms, and data architecture .
Knowledge ofcloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and modern software development practices .
Experience implementingAI-enabled knowledge platforms or research tools .
