HVAC Technician (Facilities Department)Location: Worcester, MAPay: Up to $35.97/hour + Full BenefitsPosition OverviewA leading private college in Worcester, MA is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join its Facilities Department. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collegiate environment, supporting a dynamic campus community of students, faculty, and staff.This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys a stable, team-oriented setting while maintaining a diverse portfolio of campus buildings, including academic facilities, laboratories, and residential spaces.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems across campus facilitiesPerform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systemsDiagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective repairsMonitor building automation systems and ensure optimal equipment performanceRespond to service calls in a timely and professional mannerMaintain compliance with all safety standards, environmental regulations, and university policiesAssist with equipment upgrades, retrofits, and energy efficiency initiativesKeep accurate maintenance records and complete work orders through internal systemsCollaborate with other facilities team members on campus-wide projectsRequired QualificationsEPA 608 Universal Certification (Required)Minimum 3 years of hands-on HVAC field experienceStrong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and troubleshooting techniquesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manualsSolid understanding of safety protocols and industry best practicesValid driver's licensePreferred QualificationsExperience working in institutional, healthcare, or campus environmentsFamiliarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS)HVAC or mechanical trade school certificationSkills & CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and diagnostic skillsExcellent time management and organizational abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamEffective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersCommitment to high-quality workmanship and customer serviceWork Environment & BenefitsStable, full-time position in a college campus settingOpportunity to work on a wide range of systems in academic, residential, and research facilitiesCollaborative facilities team cultureComprehensive benefits package, including:Health, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan contributionsPaid time off and holidaysTuition assistance / educational benefitsLong-term career stabilityWhy Join Us?This role offers the chance to move beyond traditional field service work and become part of a mission-driven academic community.
