We believe that we are "building better together."What's in it for you?The Corporate Accounting Manager oversees the daily corporate accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, managing the month-end close process, and supporting financial reporting and compliance activities while serving as the primary backup for payroll operations. This role serves as a key liaison between divisional groups, accounting staff, and senior leadership, providing hands-on leadership and driving process improvements to ensure efficient and effective financial operations. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented self-starter, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, construction-focused environment.As a Corporate Accounting Manager you will serve in the following areas:Accounting & Financial OperationsMaintain a strong working knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting standardsSupport the implementation of new accounting standards and policiesOversee day-to-day accounting operations, including preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger reconciliationsInvestigate and resolve discrepancies; prepare and approve journal entriesDevelop, refine, and maintain accounting processes and internal controlsPrepare and review monthly work-in-progress (WIP) schedulesEnsure the accuracy and integrity of ledgers, journals, and project-specific financial recordsSupervise Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functionsPartner with the CFO and Corporate Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planningPayroll Oversight & BackupServe as backup for payroll processing to ensure business continuityReview payroll registers, tax filings, and benefit deductions for accuracy and complianceSupport payroll tax filings, amendments, and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s)Partner with Payroll Supervising Senior and HR to ensure accurate employee data, earnings, deductions, and complianceAssist with payroll system upgrades, testing, and integrations with accounting systemsRespond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies when acting as backupCompliance & ReportingParticipate in financial statement audits and tax preparation with external CPA firmsEnsure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsAssist with preparation of payroll tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other regulatory filingsSupport administration of 401(k) and ESOP plansPrepare and maintain bank covenant calculations and related documentationTeam Management & DevelopmentHire, train, develop, and evaluate accounting staffMonitor employee performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedbackConduct regular one-on-one meetings to support employee growth and accountabilityProvide technical guidance and training to team membersStay current on accounting and construction industry trends through continuing educationCommunication & LeadershipCommunicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writingCollaborate effectively with operations, senior leadership, and external stakeholdersRepresent the accounting department professionally with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teamsProcess Improvement & InnovationDrive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with departmental goalsLead efforts to enhance financial processes and implement new systemsEnsure procedures remain compliant with regulatory and industry standardsSupport due diligence and integration activities related to potential acquisitionsOther DutiesLead or participate in special projects as assignedWork EnvironmentAbility to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentOrganizational & Interpersonal SkillsExceptional attention to detail and organizational skillsProfessional, collaborative, and team-oriented approachAbility to handle confidential information with discretionLeadership & OwnershipTakes full ownership of responsibilities and team performanceDemonstrates initiative, accountability, and sound problem-solving skillsEmbraces collaboration and continuous improvementMotivation & InitiativePositive attitude with a strong commitment to personal and team developmentProactively seeks opportunities to add valueCommunication & PlanningExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong planning, prioritization, and deadline management abilitiesKeep stakeholders informed and alignedJudgmentExercise sound, independent judgment in financial, accounting, and payroll-related decisionsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field requiredCCIFP or CPA preferred6+ years of progressive construction accounting experience, including payroll accounting exposureHands-on experience with Sage CRE 300 and Office Connector for general ledger, reporting, and financial closeExperience using ADP payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, including payroll review and reportingStrong understanding of payroll accounting, taxes, and labor law complianceAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)Experience using SQL to query, extract, validate, and analyze financial and operational dataExperience working with ERP systems and large data sets in multi-entity environmentsAbility to design, maintain, and improve financial reports and dashboardsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailAbility to streamline reporting and improve data accuracy through automationAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesHigh level of integrity and ability to handle confidential informationPerks & BenefitsEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)Competitive Medical Insurance plan options including an HSA plan with Company deductible contributions.Dental InsuranceVision Insurance401K Plan MatchingUnlimited PTOLife InsuranceFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Gym reimbursement programAbility to enroll in various voluntary benefits (Pet Insurance, Identity Theft Protection, Legal Assistance and more.)The actual salary will be carefully considered based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
