This dual-role position involves managing critical database infrastructure while supporting the development of quantitative investment applications, impacting portfolio management, trading, and data analytics.About the RoleThe SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing high-availability database environments, along with developing and implementing data solutions that support sophisticated financial models and trading platforms. This role offers the opportunity to influence both infrastructure stability and application performance within a dynamic, data-driven organization.ResponsibilitiesManage database Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) configurations to ensure continuous access and data integrity across financial data, portfolios, and trading systemsInstall, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances across development, QA, and production environmentsDesign and develop robust quantitative investment applications, system interfaces, databases, and reporting solutionsPerform advanced data analysis, query optimization, database tuning, and reliability assessments to enhance system performanceProactively monitor database systems to ensure security, high-availability, and operational resilienceCollaborate with development teams on database schema design, index tuning, and SQL query optimization following industry best practicesManage deployment and release of database changes across multiple environments with controlled change managementApply security patches and updates according to maintenance schedules to safeguard data integrity and complianceOversee data workflows, including data ingestion, processing, and monitoring, to maintain seamless operations QualificationsMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fieldMinimum of 5 years of SQL Server Database Administration experience in a production environmentAt least 5 years of SQL development experience including stored procedures, packaged queries, triggers, views, and scripting in multi-user environmentsHands-on experience with SQL Server High Availability (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering) and disaster recovery planningAbility to translate business requirements into database schema, stored procedures, views, and functionsProficiency in performance tuning, data analysis, and query optimization techniquesExperience with C, C++, or related programming languages is a significant plusFamiliarity with institutional market data platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Global, or similar is highly desirable Required SkillsSQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019, or later)SQL Server High Availability (Always On, Clustering) and Disaster Recovery (DR)SQL development (stored procedures, triggers, views, functions, scripting)Database performance tuning and optimizationData workflows, ETL processes, and data pipelinesMonitoring and security patchingProgramming languages: C, C++ (preferred)Familiarity with enterprise data platforms (Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Global) Preferred SkillsExperience with financial data platforms and market data integrationKnowledge of data governance and compliance standards within financial servicesCloud database management experience (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) Pay range and compensation packageThis role offers a pivotal opportunity to shape the technical backbone of a sophisticated investment firm, directly supporting critical financial operations and data solutions that drive investment strategies.Equal Opportunity StatementThe Phoenix Group Advisors is an equal opportunity employer.
