Music/Chorus Teacher Ponaganset Middle School Foster-Glocester Regional Schools Ponaganset Middle - Glocester, Rhode IslandJob Description Foster-Glocester Regional School District is currently accepting applications for a highly effective Music/Chorus Teacher who wants to work as a collaborative member of a team to lead and support our high-performing middle school. Our learning community of educators, students, and parents is one of the best kept secrets in RI. Located in scenic Northwest Rhode Island, Ponaganset Middle School serves approximately 420 students. Our school is staffed by a dedicated team committed to advancing learning and teaching in a collaborative, relevant, and personalized 1:1 blended learning environment Ponaganset Middle School is a member of the Association for Middle Level Education, New England League of Middle Schools and fully embraces middle-level practices. The current school building was built and opened the doors to students in September 2007. Our middle school has six team suites (a group of five classrooms organized around a central meeting room) to support and enhance our middle school teams. We have strong academic, music unified arts, and athletic programs. The school sits on more than 50 acres of a living campus that supports learning in and out of school. Our school has built in common planning time for teachers, advisory for students, an enrichment period, and supports for students who are struggling and students who excel. During the 2015-2016 school year we completed a multi-year plan to purchase mobile technology (Chromebooks) for our students and staff to cultivate a blended learning environment. All students in grades 6-12 are issued a device making our middle school and high school 1:1 blended learning environments. Our teachers and students are actively using technology to support student's mastery of desired knowledge and skills. In order to enhance learning and teaching and involve parents in the education of their children our school district uses a Learning Management System (LMS) that provides a virtual space for student and teacher collaboration and enables teachers and staff to produce lessons, assignments, communicate with students and families, and to run analytics that provide information on student performance and the frequency and timeliness of their educational activity. Through sound fiscal management, our school district has been able to reallocate resources to meet student and adult needs. We have added numerous courses designed to prepare our students for college and careers. Our students and teachers have the benefit of learning and teaching in an environment that is well resourced with instructional materials. In short, Ponaganset Middle School is one of the more progressive schools in Rhode Island.Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree and current RI Certification in the subject and/or grade level of the teaching position;A passion for learning and self-development and demonstrated ability to acquire and use knowledge and skills from ongoing professional growth activities, coursework, training, and other experiences;Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience with the development and implementation of instructional programs for students with significant disabilities.Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience with development and implementation of programs that maximize participation and independence in the school setting.Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience with developing, implementing, and scaffolding academic, functional and social/behavioral skills.Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience with standards-based curriculum / lesson design, instructional strategies and assessment techniques;Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience with gathering and analyzing data, tracking student performance, and making classroom and team-level decisions based on data;Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience with the use of technology in educational settings and the implementation of blending learning instructional environments;Demonstrated ability to positively interact with school and district personnel and work productively as a member of a team to advance school and district goals and positively enhance school culture;Demonstrated knowledge of and effective experience implementing the professional knowledge and skills as outlined in the RI Professional Teaching Standards, RI Code of Professional Responsibility, recent educational research, laws, and regulations;Demonstrated acquisition and implementation of knowledge and skills through ongoing professional growth activities sponsored by the school/district and individually pursued by the teacher;Demonstrated ability to effectively and consistently perform the duties, responsibilities and functions of the position as evidenced by course work, educational experience, involvement in professional activities, adherence to local policies and administrative directives / requests, and the interview process;And / or any combination of education, experience, and knowledge and skills determined by the School Committee and/or their designee(s) to be substantially equivalent to those listed above.Contact Information Alyssa Nappa, Human Resource Manager91 Anan Wade RoadGlocester, Rhode Island 02857Phone: 401-710-7576Email: anappa@fgschools.com
