Facilities Maintenance TechnicianThe Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the safe, clean, and efficient operation of a hospital facility by performing routine building maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks. This role focuses on basic electrical and plumbing work, general handyman duties, and ongoing inspections of the facility to identify and address issues promptly.Responsibilities:Conduct daily walkthroughs of hospital grounds and interior spaces to assess the condition of functional systems and identify malfunctions or needed repairs.Perform minor electrical maintenance, including replacing lightbulbs and removing or installing general light fixtures.Perform minor plumbing maintenance, such as repairing or replacing leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging drains, and replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices.Carry out other minor repair duties, including adjusting doors, fitting locks and handles, and similar basic building maintenance tasks.Reconfigure, install, position, and remount office furniture and workspace components, such as furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, and file cabinets, to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand tools.Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned and document findings, actions taken, and any additional repair needs.Order parts and materials required for maintenance and repair work and maintain accurate records and documentation.Use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment safely and effectively while working on building and facility systems.Collaborate with other maintenance staff and hospital personnel to ensure that maintenance activities support a safe and functional environment.Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support overall facility maintenance operations.Essential Skills:12 years of experience as a maintenance helper, facilities maintenance worker, or in a similar building maintenance role.Hands-on experience with general maintenance and repair tasks in a facility or building environment.Ability to perform minor electrical maintenance, including replacing lightbulbs and installing or removing general light fixtures.Ability to perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging drains, and replacing drain hoses on washers and similar equipment.Proficiency in basic building maintenance tasks such as adjusting doors and fitting locks and handles.Experience performing preventative maintenance tasks and documenting findings and repair needs.Skill in using a variety of hand tools safely and effectively for maintenance and handyman tasks.Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks independently, and manage time effectively during scheduled shifts.Attention to detail when inspecting facilities and documenting maintenance issues and completed work.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility maintenance setting is beneficial.Facility maintenance, handyman work, or building maintenance is preferred.Familiarity with ordering parts and maintaining maintenance-related documentation and records.Comfort working in a facility that provides care for individuals with mental health needs.Strong communication skills to coordinate with staff and report maintenance issues clearly.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle a variety of maintenance tasks throughout the day.Why Work Here?This opportunity offers a contract-to-hire path, giving you the chance to demonstrate your skills and transition into a longer-term role. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering consistent daytime hours. The work involves regular use of hand tools and basic maintenance equipment, and requires moving through various parts of the facility, including patient care areas, offices, and common spaces. The environment is professional, safety-focused, and mission-driven, with an emphasis on maintaining a clean, functional, and secure setting for patients, visitors, and staff.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
