Senior Data Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to partner closely with client stakeholders in delivering data-driven economic analyses of national importance. In this role, you will apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning, generative AI, and big data technologies to design and execute analytical solutions that address complex business and research challenges.You will play a key role in translating ambiguous questions into structured, testable approaches and delivering clear, defensible insights through rigorous analysis and effective communication.Key Responsibilities:Partner with stakeholders to define problem statements, assumptions, and analytical approachesDesign and implement scalable data ingestion, storage, integration, and processing strategiesBuild transparent, reproducible data pipelines and analysis environments in cloud platformsConduct advanced statistical, econometric, and machine learning analyses on complex datasetsDesign and execute rigorous studies (e.g., difference-in-differences, panel models, instrumental variables/2SLS, time series forecasting)Translate business or legal questions into testable hypotheses and client-ready insightsDevelop clear, concise reports, memos, and exhibits explaining methodologies, assumptions, and limitationsCreate compelling data visualizations for both technical and non-technical audiencesSupport defensible analytics and causal inference workstreamsMentor team members and promote best practices in data science and research methodologiesStay current with advancements in data science, AI, and information systemsBasic Qualifications: Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field5-8+ years of hands-on data science experienceStrong proficiency in Python or R, along with SQL and statistical tools such as Stata or SASExpertise in machine learning (model selection, evaluation, feature engineering)Experience applying AI/ML techniques to extract insights from structured and unstructured dataProficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or MatplotlibExperience working with large-scale datasets and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks, or similar)Familiarity with large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) and their tradeoffsStrong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to produce clear, rigorous, and defensible analytical outputsFamiliarity with security frameworks such as FISMA, NIST, or Zero TrustCurrent Principal Data Scientist (PDS) CertificationPreferred Qualifications: Experience with Spark and DatabricksDomain expertise in areas such as antitrust, pricing, healthcare, fraud/forensics, or financial analysisExperience producing reproducible, peer-reviewed analyses that meet legal and regulatory standards (e.g., Daubert)Contributions to open-source projects or participation in data science communitiesBenefitsPEAK's benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care Savings Account (DCA), and 401K plan.
