The Student Support Specialist serves as a key resource for students seeking assistance with academic accommodations, wellness concerns, personal challenges, and access to campus and community resources. This position provides student-centered support through intake meetings, needs assessments, resource coordination, follow-up services, and educational outreach.Key Responsibilities:Conduct student intake meetings and assess individual support and accommodation needsCoordinate academic accommodations and connect students with campus and community resourcesProvide ongoing student support related to academics, wellness, housing, finances, accessibility, and personal successMaintain confidential records, documentation, referrals, and communication logsAssist students with problem-solving strategies, academic success resources, and individualized support plansCollaborate with faculty, staff, and community agencies to support student needs and continuity of careDevelop and facilitate educational workshops, outreach efforts, and wellness programming for students and staffAssist with accessibility-related services, training, and student support coordinationSupport compliance efforts related to accessibility standards, disability services, and student support best practicesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Public Health, Student Affairs, or a related fieldProfessional experience in student services, accessibility support, counseling support, higher education, case coordination, social services, or related fields preferredStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to build positive relationships with diverse student populationsExperience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems preferredPreferred Experience:Experience supporting students in higher education environmentsFamiliarity with accessibility services, ADA/504 compliance, or student accommodationsExperience presenting trainings, workshops, or educational programmingBackground working with diverse or underserved student populationsFamiliarity with student information systems or case management platformsBilingual communication skills are a plusThis is a fully in person position - hours range between 30-40 hours - compensation is between $23-25 an hour depending on experience.
