The Leidos NISC IV team is seeking a dynamic Senior Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. The position will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team with the goal of providing outstanding customer service to FAA customers receiving NISC services. It is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NISC IV mission and to provide technical instruction for new hire Electronics personnel tasked with fiber optics projects assigned to Engineering Services. Remote consulting position - can be located anywhere in the U.S. with a requirement to travel to Lakeland, FL or where needed to teach classes. Primary Responsibilities Senior Level Instructor or Trainer role will include providing classroom instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. Courses will be taught in-person with day and potentially evening courses. Assist students in developing the fundamental skills required to serve as an entry-level fiber optic cable installer or technician. Instruct fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, including knowledge of different fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and how to use specialized tools to connect and activate fiber optic networks. Teach electronic and fiber optic fundamental safety including, but not limited to, PPE, handling cables, proper handling of various chemicals, cleaners, and adhesives, adhering to industry standards, and ensuring proper training to avoid injury and damage. Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students. Requirements to be considered Must have a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of working knowledge of FAA electrical and electronics systems. Computer Applications: Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering scheduling tools and applications, and be able to use the Internet as a gathering and communicating tool. Communications: Must be able to effectively communicate in the written and verbal form. Must accomplish clear and concise general and technical writing and tactfully coordinate with a variety of project stakeholders, peers and management levels. Must have a basic knowledge of multiple disciplines regarding their general requirements for typical FAA electrical and electronics systems.
