Staff Accountant – Project & Manufacturing Accounting Location: Eau Claire, WI | Onsite Reports To: Finance & Operational Leadership Status: Exempt Compensation: $63,000 – $75,000 Position Overview This role serves as the primary accounting resource for a project-driven fabrication and light manufacturing operation. The Staff Accountant owns full-cycle accounting activities tied to custom equipment projects, ensuring accurate financial tracking from project initiation through completion.The position partners closely with operations, engineering, vendors, and customers to support job costing, billing, inventory usage, and month-end close activities. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with the business and taking ownership of their work. Key Responsibilities Project Accounting & Job Costing Own financial setup, tracking, and closeout for custom fabrication and equipment projectsTrack labor, materials, outside services, and subcontracted costs at the project levelMaintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support accurate revenue recognitionMonitor project costs against estimates and budgets; identify and communicate variancesPrepare project-level cost and profitability reporting for leadership Accounts Payable & Receivable Process vendor invoices accurately and resolve discrepanciesPrepare and issue customer invoices, including progress and milestone-based billingApply customer payments and creditsMonitor receivables aging and follow up on past-due balancesServe as a point of contact for vendor and customer billing questions Inventory & Operational Accounting Support Track inventory usage by project and support accurate accounting for materialsAssist with inventory counts, reconciliations, and valuationEnsure alignment between financial records and production activity General Ledger & Close Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to projects and inventoryReconcile inventory and WIP accountsSupport month-end and year-end close processesMaintain documentation to support audits and internal controls Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and project visibilityMaintain strong organization, documentation, and adherence to internal controls Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred3–6 years of accounting experience; manufacturing or job-cost environment strongly preferredHands-on experience owning AP, AR, and general ledger accountingSolid understanding of project accounting and inventory workflowsExperience with Sage or similar ERP systemsAdvanced Excel skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple prioritiesStrong communication skills and confidence working cross-functionally #Accountant #StaffAccountant #Manufacturing #LI-HYBRID #LI-PS1 #INFEB2026 #Accounting
