Kitchen Manager The Pharmacy PDX is looking for a Kitchen Manager to supervise daily back of house restaurant operations. Kitchen Manager responsibilities include supervising the food prep and cooking, maintaining a fully-stocked kitchen inventory, complying with safety and cleanliness standards, monitoring ordering and food costs to optimize efficiency and profit while minimizing waste and unnecessary expenditure. To be successful in this role, you should be able to manage our kitchen staff and guide them to grow and improve their skills while delivering surprisingly good bar food to hungry customers. Pay: $52,000 annual salary Responsibilities (the work) Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance procedures and schedules Supervise food prep and cooking Check food plating and temperature Establish portion sizes Schedule kitchen staff shifts Price menu items in collaboration with the owner Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques Keep weekly and monthly cost reports Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area and walk-in Responsibilities (the fun) Create weekly food special Create weekly soup special Workshop new menu items for semi-annual menu changes Drag Brunch! Requirements Experience as a Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager or Head Chef Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations Excellent organizational skills Conflict management abilities Ability to manage a team in a dynamic work environment Some flexibility to work during evenings and weekends as needed (shift/event) The ideal candidate will have: At least 5 years experience working in kitchens (Bonus: solo or small kitchen) At least 1 year of leadership experience managing small staff The ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for at least eight hours, bend, stoop, twist, etc. in a physically demanding job Schedule: 12pm - 8pm Saturday - Wednesday (with occasional adjustments due to events or shift coverage) We provide a competitive wage and benefit package for our employees, which includes: Paid vacation and sick time 401k with matching Employee Assistance Program Shift meal and 50% discount when not working A fun, energetic environment Training and support Opportunities for advancement The opportunity to make a difference: We value every employee’s contributions and ideas Ok.
