Let’s build a Seattle that works for everyone together!Position OverviewThe SDOT Street Use Division is seeking a motivated intern to join our team and play a key role in a division-wide initiative to digitize, archive, and manage historical records. This position is ideal for a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate-level student looking to gain hands-on experience in research, organization, and strategic planning.Core responsibilities include researching and documenting records management policies, organizing and preparing pre-2020 records for archiving, and assisting in developing a project framework using project management principles. You'll collaborate closely with your supervisor and stakeholders while leading efforts to define project scope, goals, and timelines. This involves defining the project scope, goals, and timeline, and coordinating efforts with stakeholders.Assisting with facilitating team meetings.Drafting content for the Street Use newsletter and internal staff emails. This includes creating written materials such as announcements, updates, meeting invitations, policy reminders, feedback requests, or other relevant information for employees. The goal is to effectively communicate and engage staff on topics related to their roles, responsibilities, and the organization's operations.Assisting with data and metrics development, reviews, and reports.Gather records for Public Disclosure Requests.QualificationsEducation: Open to all undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year educational program.Preferred Areas Of StudyBusiness Administration, Business Management, Data Analytics, Project Management, or other related areas of study. Engineering and Construction related backgrounds are also welcome, due to the nature of our permitting work with the public.Undergraduate majors must maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA throughout the internship.You will be successful in this internship if you have:Strong Communication Skills – You can express yourself clearly, whether in writing or during team discussions.Organizational & Analytical Thinking – You love solving problems, spotting patterns, and keeping things running smoothly.Foundational Knowledge of Project Management or Business Administration – Whether from school or past experiences, you understand the basics and are eager to apply them.Familiarity with Data Systems – Experience with platforms like SharePoint, Laserfiche, or similar tools is a plus.Tech-Savvy with Microsoft Excel & Adobe Acrobat – You know your way around spreadsheets and can handle documents with ease.Ability to Lift up to 25 lbs. – Occasionally, some light lifting may be needed (we promise, no heavy warehouse work!).Self-Driven & Organized – You can manage your time well and thrive in a hybrid (in-office + remote) work setup.Additional InformationInternship DatesStart/ End Dates: November 2025 – December 15th, 2026.ScheduleIntern will work up-to 20 hours/week while school is in session, up to 40 hours/week during school breaks. Work hours can be scheduled between 8am and 5pm Monday - Friday.
