Description: Position Summary The SMTI Data Entry / Order Processing Specialist is responsible for accurately entering customer orders into the MRP system, issuing sales orders to the production floor, and supporting internal logistics and shipping cost research. This role is strictly internal-facing and does not involve direct communication with customers. Accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to internal procedures are critical to success in this position. Key Responsibilities Enter customer orders accurately into the MRP system Create, process, and issue sales orders to the production floor Verify order details including part numbers, quantities, revisions, and due dates Research and obtain shipping pricing using approved carriers and internal tools Coordinate internally with production, planning, and shipping departments Ensure all data entries comply with internal quality and documentation standards Maintain organized digital records and order documentation Support audits, traceability, and order history retrieval as needed Identify discrepancies or missing information and escalate internally Requirements: Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Prior data entry or order processing experience preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) Ability to follow defined procedures and work with minimal supervision Strong organizational and time management skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working with MRP or ERP systems Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments Familiarity with shipping carriers and basic freight pricing Experience in ITAR-regulated or quality-controlled environments Work Environment This position is primarily office-based within a manufacturing environment. The role requires frequent interaction with internal departments including production, planning, and shipping. No customer-facing communication is required.
