Transportation Specialist

Title: Transportation Specialist Location: Grand Prairie, TX Duration: 12+ Months This is a W2 contract role. Only local candidates ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate transportation operation by tracking freight from origin to destinationCommunicate closely with customers to ensure smooth operation without issues and service satisfactionProactively identify and assess a solution to cost incurrence such as demurrage, detention and work for smooth resolution to protect SDS and its customersMonitor carrier performance continually and evaluate, with feedback provided on a routine basisCommunicate with carriers & associated vendors on a frequent and consistent basisProcess container returns, bobtail decisions related to overall logistics operation for proper handling of businessOther responsibilities as required by the Site ManagerRequirements3+ years operation or logistics related relevant experienceStrong understanding of freight & logistics systemsBachelor's Degree preferred, High school GED requiredAbility to effectively work under the pressure of deadlines in a multi-task, production environmentDetail oriented, with the ability to thoroughly research, analyze and develop solutions to complex processing and workflow issuesAbility to quickly grasp situational issues and derive solution to problemProficient with Microsoft Excel with v-lookups and pivot tablesExcellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills including effective written and verbal communication skills to communicate with various levels of the organization
