Tier III System Engineer

Our vision is to help customers achieve their most challenging goals by unifying innovation, integrity, and exemplary services and products.The Tier III System Engineer is a pivotal technical role responsible for resolving the most complex escalated issues from our help desk, providing expert pre-sales consultation, and leading critical implementation projects. This individual will serve as the final point of escalation within the support structure and must possess deep, practical knowledge across network infrastructure, cloud platforms, and security frameworks. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and is committed to delivering elegant solutions to challenging problems. This role is a hybrid position combining advanced technical support with pre-sales solution design. The individual will serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues while also partnering with the sales team to design and present IT solutions to prospective and existing clients.LocationSan Antonio, TX (onsite)Clearance RequirementsNAEssential Role and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Escalation & Advanced SupportAct as the ultimate escalation point for Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians for advanced network, server, and security incidents.Perform root cause analysis for major service interruptions and implement permanent corrective actions.Administer and troubleshoot complex environments including Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Azure IaaS.Manage and maintain core network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems).Develop and document advanced troubleshooting procedures and knowledge base articles for the team.Project Engineering & ImplementationLead the technical execution of client projects, including network upgrades, cloud migrations, and security hardening initiatives.Create detailed implementation plans, change requests, and post-project documentation.Configure and deploy new hardware and software solutions according to best practices and client specifications.Some travel to client sites is required for project work and complex onsite troubleshooting.Pre-Sales Consultation & Solution DesignCollaborate with the sales team to conduct technical discovery meetings with prospective and existing clients.Design and scope tailored technology solutions that meet client business needs and budgets.Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and high-level architectural diagrams.Present technical concepts and proposals to clients with varying levels of technical understanding.Serve as technical SME in client meetings and RFP responses. Stay up to date on emerging technologies and vendor offerings.Strategic & Proactive DutiesParticipate in the evaluation and testing of new technologies and services.Assist in developing and enforcing security policies and procedures aligned with compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CMMC, ISO 27001).Contribute to the continuous improvement of our service delivery and operational processes.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.QualificationsMinimum 7+ years of experience in a systems engineering or senior network administrator role.Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or IT consulting environment is highly preferred.Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related technical fieldRequired Active Certifications:Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)CompTIA Security+CompTIA Network+Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900) or higher relevant certificationMicrosoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or higher relevant certificationTechnical Skills & CompetenciesNetworking: Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VPNs (IPsec, SSL), and network security principles. Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. VOIP experience, preferably with Microsoft Teams/3CX.Cloud & Microsoft 365: Deep administrative experience with Azure Active Directory, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Azure Virtual Machines. PowerShell scripting for automation is a plus.Security: Strong understanding of endpoint security, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and vulnerability management. Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools is advantageous.Systems: Proficiency in Windows Server (2016-2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper-V//Proxmox/ VMware, and storage solutions.Soft Skills: Exceptional customer service, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills.
