JOB TITLE: Speech Language PathologistQUALIFICATIONS: As set by State Certification AuthoritiesFLSA: ExemptREPORTS TO: Building Principals and Coordinator of Special Education ServicesSALARY: Teacher Salary ScheduleDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication, speech improvement, and language development.Provide a therapeutic and/or academic program to meet individual needs of children with disabilities.Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified children with disabilities.Provide thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language impairments (including articulation/phonological disorders, voice disorders, fluency disorders, or language disorders.)Provide Child Find information and screening to identify children with disabilities at regular intervals.Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.Provide appropriate programs to meet individual needs.Collaborate with general education, special education teachers, and other school staff members concerning special education.Provide information, support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members concerning special education.Keep thorough ongoing records, including attendance, for the individual student receiving special education and complete paperwork required.Maintain lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.Provide services in locations according to need.Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.Maintain records related to federal, state and local regulations.Prepare for and holds meetings relative to federal, state and local guidelines.Any other duties as assigned by Principal or Coordinator.
