Spring Musical Director

Extra Duty Stipend Job Description Extra Duty Stipends are awarded to employees who oversee, direct, or contribute to an activity outside of the regular workday. These activities include HUUSD sanctioned activities, or extension of existing HUUSD activities or co-curricular programs that culminate in a public performance (product) or a local, state, or national competition. Job Title: Spring Musical Director Stipend Amount: Co-curricular Category A, range $2500 to $4000 based on experience. Updated Date: 8-3-24 Position Objectives: Conceptualizes production from start to finish. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Is responsible for envisioning the artistic strategy of the production and communicating that with the various support team members including Lighting Designer, Set Builder, Producer, Costumer, and the cast/crew. The director is responsible for managing the entire rehearsal process for the cast and working all the pieces together through blocking (the art of staging a production) while integrating the work of the tech team in a coherent, one-vision, approach. With a straight plan, the director is responsible for staging every moment in the show and does not have collaborators such as a choreographer and music director to contribute to the artistic material. Number of Students Participating (if applicable): Average 20-30 kids per fall play When the Activity Occurs (outside of regular workday/weekends): Monday through Friday Time Commitment: Prep-Work: 30 hours Weeks 1-8: 8 hours/week Weeks 9 & 10: 10 hours/week Week 11: 16 hours Week 12 (Show Week): 30 hours Rough Total: ~ 160 hours Who Oversees the Activities: Athletic Director
