Title Teacher - Cosmetology Department Campus Based Reports to Campus Principal Compensation Teacher Pay Scale Days 187 Revised: 03/21/2025 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The CTE Teacher participates as a member of the instructional staff in planning for teaching, motivating students, developing classroom climate, managing the classroom, interacting with pupils and evaluating pupils. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Certification RequirementsBachelor's degreeValid Cosmetology Operator licenseValid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned. (Trade and Industrial Education Grades 6-12 or 8-12 with appropriate work approval) orTexas Administrative Code (TAC) requires that candidates seeking CTE certification based on skill and experience must complete an approved educator preparation program (EPP)A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teachingOR an Associate's Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teachingOR a High School Diploma or equivalent, five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teachingEligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian experience; your EPP will review for eligibilityPlus, a valid license is appropriate for the assignmentValid Texas Driver's LicenseCandidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
