Job DescriptionCornerstone Community Outreach's Naomi Program is a 120 day transitional shelter located in Uptown on Chicago's North-side.Established in 1998, Naomi House began providing overnight shelter for 80 single women. In 2004, this program changed locations and became a 24– hour shelter. Women sheltered at Naomi receive “wrap-around services” which include, personalized case management, referrals, and advocacy from CCO staff and partner agencies. Due to COVID our bed capacity has changed to 44 , it may resume to 80 once COVID has subsided. Looking to hire a full time daytime program aid( 35 hours). Must be compassionate yet firm. Must have impeccable work standards and be of the utmost ethical character. Must be able to maintain awareness at all times and be self motivated/work independently. Must be able to lift 25 pounds, bend, squat and walk up and down stairs multiple times a day. Must have experience in dealing with people with a variety of needs and personalities in large group settings as well as one on one. Must be able to be calm under pressure but also address needs in a kind and respectful way. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Would prefer someone with some shelter care experience but will also accept applications with security background. Looking for a " house mom" personality. Prefer someone who understands and practices "Trauma Informed Care" and can maintain professional boundaries with shelter guests.Hours are Monday thru Friday 8 a.m.-3:00 p.m.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $16.50 /hourCompany DescriptionCornerstone Community Outreach (CCO), an Illinois non-profit 501-c3 organization, was founded in 1989 to raise the quality of life for people experiencing homelessness in the Uptown area of Chicago.For over thirty years, CCO’s programs have expanded to serve nearly 500 men, women and children daily. With Cornerstone’s help these families and individuals can begin to build a new life, one step at a time.CCO has a long standing commitment to providing shelter and finding homes for families and individuals who are at the greatest risk of being excluded from necessary services.
