Community Nutrition Intern

This department is responsible for providing the community with culturally appropriate nutrition resources and accessible food safety information. To support these tasks, this position will:Provide community nutrition workshops  Build culturally appropriate recipes  Participate in annual food safety inspections    Conduct outreach to Emergency Food Programs looking to build nutrition services  Support efforts for the Nutrition Masterclass program Produce monthly newsletter content  Join various cross-organization committee meetings   Skills and qualifications:  Compassionate, patient, and sensitive to the needs of people experiencing food insecurity    Basic computer skills: typing, data entry, Outlook, Microsoft Suite   Bonus skills: Canva, Creative Cloud   Confident public speaking skills  Strong communication skills   Clear and cohesive writing skills  Responsible time management Experience building educational content    Organized, thorough and detail-oriented  Has a friendly and positive attitude towards collaborating with others  Foundational knowledge on topics like nutrition, culinary skills, food systems, wellness and food safety  Benefits:   Completion of a project that will impact the work being done at Food Bank for New York City.  Time with Senior Executives at intern specific fireside chats  Presentation skills, present your completed project(s) to The Food Bank stakeholders    Knowledge of nutrition, food systems, food safety, and food sustainability    Knowledge about state and federal nutrition standards Developing effective outreach strategies for community-based organizations  Tangible education skills including building curriculum, public speaking, discussion and outreach Networking with community nutrition professionals across emergency food programs Experience working in the non-profit space.  Make a meaningful impact by empowering clients and giving back to your local community.  Collaborate with passionate, like-minded professionals who share your dedication to helping others.
