Phlebotomist
TESCO Inc. invites skilled and compassionate Medical Technicians (Phlebotomists) to join our mission-driven team, providing critical laboratory services to the VA Medical Center in Augusta, ME If, you are looking for a rewarding role where your expertise directly supports the health and well-being of our Veterans, this is an opportunity for you. The positions are full time, 40 hours per week.
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
Shift- 12 PM to 8:30 PM
Your Mission & Responsibilities
As a key member of our laboratory team, you will provide essential, patient-focused phlebotomy and specimen processing services, upholding the highest standards of care (CLSI guidelines).
Critical Specimen Collection: Perform precise patient phlebotomy for all areas, including inpatient ward rounds, outpatient clinics, the Emergency Department (ED), and handle STAT/ASAP/timed draws efficiently.
Quality Assurance: Master the essential steps of sample processing, preparation for send-out, and meticulous specimen integrity maintenance.
Patient Safety First: Ensure positive patient identification before collection and verify all sample identification before testing or aliquoting.
Problem Solving: Proactively identify, document, and resolve any issues related to collection, processing, testing, or reporting.
Professional Service: Deliver exceptional, patient-focused care to ensure a high level of satisfaction among Veterans and clinical staff.
Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility by rotating through various lab areas as needed to support team objectives.
What You Bring to the Team
We are seeking reliable, detail-oriented professionals with a commitment to clinical excellence.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience is required, with 3 years in a hospital or clinical setting strongly preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Phlebotomy Technician certification are mandatory.
Current certification in phlebotomy is highly preferred.
Key Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on delivering compassionate, patient-centered service. Must be highly accurate and able to work independently.
