Accounting Manager

Harmer is actively recruiting for our Oil & Gas client for an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations while managing a small team in a fast-scaling environment. This is a true accounting leadership role for someone who can both execute and lead, with responsibility for core accounting functions and direct support of the Controller and executive leadership team.This position is approximately 70% hands-on and 30% people management, overseeing a team of approximately six across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Treasury.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support daily accounting operations across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and TreasuryIndependently manage and drive the month-end closeOversee Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accountingCoordinate payroll-related accounting supportAssist with audit preparation and supportReview and improve accounting processes, controls, and workflowsPartner closely with the Controller and executive leadership in a high-growth environmentProvide direct leadership, guidance, and development to the accounting teamHelp strengthen and scale the accounting function to support continued company growthQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA preferred, but not requiredCandidates who are actively pursuing the CPA, CPA-eligible, or have passed sections of the CPA exam will be consideredPrior experience in an Accounting Manager role with direct people leadership requiredStrong ERP and systems background; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly preferredAdvanced Excel skills requiredBackground in small-to-mid-sized companies preferredExperience in private equity-backed and/or high-growth environments strongly preferredProven ability to build, rebuild, or scale an accounting functionComfortable operating as both a doer and leaderAble to quickly step in, add value, and support a growing business with minimal ramp-up timeIdeal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a proven Accounting Manager who has already led teams and owned core accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.
