Temporary Seasonal Research Assistant

This is a part-time or temporary non-benefited position.Description & DetailsThere are various duties and projects working in both the lab and field settings. There are positions in the following areas:
Agronomy Research:Cleaning, counting, weighing, and packaging seed, planting trials, plot maintenance to include mowing, tilling, weed management (hoeing, hand pulling), data collection, plant and soil sample collections, maintaining cleanliness of lab, office spaces, equipment and performing other tasks as assigned.Plant Pathology:Gather root and soil samples from research plots, wash root samples for disease assessment, record field data such as emergence, growth stage, disease notes, photos, and biomass, help keep the lab and office clean and organized, assist with annual Field Day activities, harvesting and post-harvest data collection, keep accurate records of all data and procedures, follow all safety guidelines.Horticulture:Planting vegetable and flower seedlings, maintaining shrubs and trees (pruning, trimming), collecting data in aspects of horticultural research trials (plant Height, yield and other traits), weed and water management in garden, research trial plot, and landscape area, mowing (lawn, landscape and garden), harvesting vegetable and fruit from research trials and garden, washing and cleaning pots, tools, harvesting trays, etc., maintaining gardening tools and other duties as assigned.All positions require an eagerness to learn, attention to detail and an ability to work independently or as part of a team.
