Job Title: LaminatorDepartment: LaminationOrganizational Relationship: Reports directly to the Lamination SupervisorJob Type: Full-TimeShift: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 7am -3:30pm (2-15min paid break, 1 - 30 min unpaid lunch)Job Duties:Preforms fiberglass lamination activities as required by the customer and/or for production. The following are the duties and responsibilities of the Laminator.Mold inspection prior to production, clean and repair as needed, and mask off areas which are not to be laminatedWork with various resins, gel-coats, fiberglass materials, foam and other adhesivesSpray chopped fiberglass, resins and catalysts onto prepared molds or dies using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments - release air bubbles and smooth seams, using rollersSelect precut fiberglass mats, cloth and wood bracing materials per production requirementsPat or press layers of saturated mat or cloth into place on molds, using brushes or hands, and smooth out wrinkles and air bubbles with hands or squeegeesMix catalysts into resins, and saturate cloth and mats with mixtures, using brushesInstall wood or and other components to hulls, desk and moldsOperate certain power tools not limited to chop gun, saws, drills, grinders and hoistsCheck completed products for conformity and repair or modify discrepancies if detectedAbility to work both independently and as a team memberFollow safety and health standards - use of dust masks, respirators, gloves, eye protection and other protective equipment as requiredPerform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors and/or managementUnderstand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirementAdditional Skills and Competencies:Basic mathematical skillsUnderstand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirementsMust be able to speak, read, and write EnglishMeeting production schedulesKnowing chemicals, their dangers, safety procedures, mixing procedures and time limitsAbility to work both independently and as a team memberFollow safety and health standards - use of protective equipment as requiredAbility to work 8+ hour day shifts (sitting, standing, bending and reaching) and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.Understand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirementsMust be able to speak, read, and write EnglishPerform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors and/or managementRequired education and experience:High School Diploma or equivalent - 2 - 5 years of experience finishing - Prefer knowledge with fiberglass and resin, spray painting, composites, marine material knowledge and marine experience.OTHER JOB DEMANDS:Working ConditionsWorks inside with occasional outside work.Physical EffortLifting 50 lbs. maximum with infrequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs.; stooping, kneeling or crawling with moderate effort; reaching and handling is required often with moderate effort; pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs.Physical EnvironmentExposure to dirt, dust, hazardous substances and equipment does exist; they occur often. Protective eyewear is required when in production area.Sensory AttentionSenses of seeing, smelling and touching are required with extreme concentration for long duration.
