#968 - Sr. Backend Engineer (Java, AWS & AI-Driven Development)

Job Opportunity only available for professionals located in Latin America.We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help design, build, and deploy scalable cloud-native applications for global clients.This role is ideal for an experienced Java Engineer who not only excels in backend development but also actively leverages AI-powered tools and modern Generative AI technologies to improve productivity, code quality, and software delivery.You will work closely with engineers, architects, product managers, and client stakeholders to solve complex business challenges through scalable software solutions, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled development practices.RequirementsAdvanced English level (B2/C1/C2) to ensure fluent communication across teams.8+ years of professional software engineering experience, working with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.Familiarity with modern data and AI frameworks (e.g., tool/function calling, MCP, multi-agent orchestration) is a must, sufficient to understand and adopt a client's plug-in–based agentic framework.Familiarity with Generative AI concepts, Large Language Models (LLMs), and modern AI-powered engineering practices.Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, ChatGPT, or similar. Experience designing and developing REST APIs.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.Experience with Git and modern software development practices.Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.Familiarity with front-end technologies is a plus.Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Neo4j or other graph databases.Experience with Kubernetes.Experience integrating LLMs into applications.Experience building AI-powered features, assistants, copilots, or agent-based workflows.Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures.Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), tool/function calling, or multi-agent systems.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Previous consulting or client-facing experience.Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern platform engineering practices.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend services using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful APIs.Design and implement microservices and distributed systems.Develop, deploy, and support applications running in AWS environments.Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code.Troubleshoot and optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.Contribute to engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation.Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve engineering efficiency and accelerate delivery.Participate in the evaluation and adoption of emerging AI technologies and development workflows.What do we offer?100% Remote work.Competitive salary in USD.Type of contract: Independent Contractor with Venon Solutions LLC.Contract duration: Long-term.2 weeks of PTO (paid time off).Paid Holidays: from the Client's calendar (USA)Working hours: Full-time PST timezone, fully committed.
