Physician Assistant - Cardiology Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated). Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment. Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members. Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling. Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations. Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician. Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice. Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services. Teach patients and family member's healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness. Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement. Provides primary or specialty medical care with the cognizance or supervision of a physician. Responsible for regular appointed clinic, compatible with workload, in addition, provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur. Shall have the capability to: o Collect and record, in proper format, medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient’s condition. o Perform a general physical examination. May be assigned a panel of patients. As a provider, will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of assigned patients. Duties include: Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing. Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans. Determine need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists. Approving/ disapproving subspecialty referrals. Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinics. Providing primary and secondary preventive maintenance care. Admit inpatients as per the local MT instructions. Recognize those more complicated cases, initiate treatment (if appropriate). And refer it a higher level of medical expertise for diagnosis and/or treatment. Plan and initiate proper treatment within defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility. Identify and report those situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures. Clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing the findings, diagnosis, and planned treatment regimen. stabilize and manage a patient in a medical or surgical emergency patients, prepare patients for evacuation, and arrange for evacuation support. Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with MTF. Medical documentation must be computed within 72 hours of care with the patient. Additional Duties: •The Physician Assistant will perform medical professional administrative duties, not limited to: Peer Review, consult log, MEB’s/Rilo’s, profiles and Overseas Clearances. Required Credentials and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). BLS Certification AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA) Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a PA during the last 3 years.
