Read more at www.dsv.com Location: USA - Florence, 2505 Ted Bushelman Blvd. Division: Solutions Job Posting Title: Learning & Development Sr. Manager - Operations Time Type: Full TimePosition SummaryThe Learning & Development (L&D) Manager - Operations is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and administering comprehensive training and development programs across the exempt and non-exempt workforce within North American Contract Logistics. This role ensures non-exempt teams are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and certifications required to safely, efficiently, and consistently execute core distribution center functions. While also ensuring exempt leaders are effectively onboarded, developed, and positioned for career progression. Travel: Frequent travel across the distribution network (25-50%)Reporting to the Director, Center of Excellence, this role serves as a critical enabler of operational excellence by creating scalable, standardized learning solutions that drive performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across all facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesTraining Strategy & Program DevelopmentDesign and execute a network-wide learning strategy aligned with operational standards, productivity targets, safety requirements, and customer expectations.Develop structured training roadmaps for all operations roles, including hourly associates, team leads, supervisors, and managers.Identify capability gaps through performance metrics, audits, incident trends, and leadership input.Partner with the Center of Excellence and Operations leaders to align training programs with standard work, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.Support network Launch activities through training processes, standards, and human capital.Content Design & DeliveryCreate and maintain standardized training content, including:SOP- and standard work-based training modulesInstructor-led and train-the-trainer programsE-learning and blended learning solutionsJob instruction breakdowns, work instructions, and visual aidsMilestone-based career development activitiesEnsure all content reflects best practices in:Warehouse operations (receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping)Inventory accuracy and cycle countingMaterial handling equipment and automationSafety, OSHA compliance, and quality standardsContinuous improvement best practicesCollaborate with operational subject matter experts to ensure content is practical, current, and scalable.Training Administration & GovernanceOwn administration of the Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignment, completion tracking, reporting, and compliance visibility.Establish consistent onboarding, certification, recertification, and refresher training processes across the network.Maintain training documentation, version control, and audit readiness in partnership with Safety, Quality, and HR teams.Support customer, regulatory, and internal audits related to training and competency.Network Deployment & SupportPartner with site leaders to deploy training programs while balancing operational demands.Coach supervisors and site trainers on facilitation skills and adult learning methodologies.Support new customer launches, site start-ups, expansions, and process changes with tailored training plans and on-site resource planning.Conduct site visits to assess training effectiveness and reinforce standards.Measurement & Continuous ImprovementDefine and track training effectiveness metrics, including time-to-productivity, safety outcomes, quality performance, and engagement.Use data-driven insights to continuously refine training programs and delivery methods.Benchmark industry best practices and incorporate innovation into the learning roadmap.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Training completion and certification complianceReduced time-to-productivity for new hiresSafety and quality improvements tied to training initiativesConsistency of operational execution across sitesAudit readiness and accuracy of training recordsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience)5-8+ years of Learning & Development experience in warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, or similar operational environmentsDemonstrated experience designing and implementing end-to-end training programsStrong understanding of warehouse operations and frontline executionExperience administering and managing an LMSAbility to influence and lead through collaboration rather than authorityWillingness to travel across a multi-site distribution networkPreferred QualificationsExperience working in a Center of Excellence or shared services modelBackground in lean, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologiesExperience supporting WMS implementations, automation, or operational transformationSafety or quality training expertiseInstructional design or adult learning certificationCritical Success FactorsStrong operational credibility with frontline teams and leadersAbility to translate complex processes into clear, executable trainingHighly organized with strong program and stakeholder management skillsComfortable operating in fast-paced, multi-site environmentsResults-driven with a focus on measurable operational impactFor this position, the expected base pay range is $133,000.00 - $160,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
