Staff Accountant -Japanese Bilingual

About the job Staff Accountant -Japanese Bilingual Remote Status: On-Site, we are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Staff Accountant - Bilingual Japanese to join our accounting team. This is a full-time, hourly position and is located in Itasca, Illinois. The staff accountant is responsible for preparing and compiling financial statements for our external clients, along with helping our clients with other accounting functions that their business might need.Professional ResponsibilitiesWorks with financial statements, general ledger maintenance and bank reconciliationsAssist with the compilation of balance sheets and income statementsCreate and maintain client financial transactions recordsCompile financial reports for client management, such as cash revenue and expenditure analysis, accounts payable and receivableAssists clients with month-end closingsMaintains cash, accounts receivable and accounts payableMaintains inventory ledgers and other full-scare bookkeeping responsibilitiesChecks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codesComplies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulationsPerforms financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principalPossesses knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial dataUnderstands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-makingAbility to determine how a clients system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomesDevelops relationships with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the team is efficientFrequently works with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, ProFx, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage Intact and Bill.comPersonal ResponsibilitiesPass the CPA examDevelop excellent oral and written communication skills, while also creating specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish workDevelop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over timeAttend professional development and training sessions on a regular basisMaintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertiseTake proactive career steps through mentoring programParticipate in recruiting efforts as neededRepresent the Firm in a manner consistent with our values and Five Star philosophyMaintain and continue to develop Excel skillsDevelop ability to receive and provide constructive feedbackQualificationsBachelors Degree in accountingCurrent CPA license a plus1+ years of public accounting experience or 3+ years of industry experienceAccounting software experience a plusFederal and state tax knowledge a plusAbility and willingness to travel to clients occasionally within the Firms market areaBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance optionsEmployer-paid life and disability insuranceFlexible Spending and Health Savings AccountsTuition reimbursement and professional development supportPaid holidays, Discretionary Time Off (DTO), and summer hoursWellness programs and social events
