Cabling Support Manager
What You Will Do:As a Cabling Support Manager at Independent Software, you will lead and oversee the execution of structured cabling projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring successful delivery across cost, schedule, quality, and safety requirements. You will manage multiple project teams and Cabling Managers, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive project performance while maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in cabling infrastructure, and the ability to independently manage large-scale projects in dynamic environments.Key Responsibilities:Manage and oversee multiple cabling projects or one large-scale program, ensuring delivery within schedule, labor, and material budgetsSupervise and provide direction to Cabling Managers, Supervisors, and project teams across multiple job sitesMonitor project performance, including cost, schedule, productivity, and P&L margins to meet or exceed estimatesEnsure quality of workmanship, safety compliance, and proper documentation across all projectsConduct regular quality and safety observations and enforce corrective actions as neededCoordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders on project scope, schedules, and technical requirementsDevelop and deliver detailed project status reports including financials, progress, productivity, and risksIdentify and implement work-around solutions to maintain productivity during delays or disruptionsManage contract execution, including negotiations with subcontractors and vendorsDirect and manage scope changes, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and implementation of change ordersPerform site surveys for estimating, proposal development, and quality assurance activitiesDevelop Statements of Work (SOW), project estimates, and resource plansProvide leadership, mentoring, and on-the-job training to technicians and junior staffEnsure adherence to installation standards and company policiesEnforce and promote a comprehensive safety program across all project sitesRequired Skills and Qualifications:Strong experience managing structured cabling projects, including copper, fiber, and infrastructure installationsProven ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and priorities simultaneouslyStrong understanding of project management principles including scheduling, budgeting, and risk managementExperience reading and interpreting RFPs, blueprints, specifications, and contractual documentsProficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office applicationsExperience with P&L tracking, cost estimation, and resource planningAbility to develop detailed Statements of Work and project estimatesStrong leadership and team management skills with the ability to supervise large teams (30–70 personnel)Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with clients and stakeholdersAbility to work independently and make critical decisions in fast-paced environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to develop solutions to maintain project productivityEducation and Experience:Must have fourteen (14) years of combined experience and/or education in a related fieldA master's degree may substitute for six (6) years of experienceA bachelor's degree may substitute for four (4) years of experienceAn associate's degree may substitute for two (2) years of experienceDegree must be in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or universityMinimum of five (5) years of experience in Project ManagementExperience managing large-scale cabling or infrastructure projects preferredExperience working with subcontractors, vendors, and multi-disciplinary teams preferredClearance Requirement:Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this roleWhy Choose Independent Software:At Independent Software, our people are the mission.
