Position Overview Optical-Electrical System Test Engineer to define, plan, and execute test programs in support of the development and delivery of undersea optical transmission systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing qualification test plans to validate HW/SW/FW product features based upon product requirements. Responsibilities include the management of laboratory equipment to facilitate testing and troubleshooting as well as documenting test results. The individual will report to the Manager of System Test and work as part of a team of system testers that actively collaborate with R&D, Test & Commissioning, Manufacturing, Project Management, Sales, NOC, and Field Support organizations that help design, deliver and maintain undersea optical communication systems. All aspects of optical communications will need to be covered in such work. Some travel will be required for fieldwork. Key technologies driving test programs are DWDM transmission, coherent detection transmission, optical amplifiers, nonlinear optical transmission in fibers, optical polarization effects, OADM systems, electrical power delivery, management and reconfiguration. Responsibilities Develop and execute test plans to validate system performance against product requirements Plan and perform system-level testing, including DWDM transmission and standards compliance testing Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to define test strategies and troubleshoot issues Configure, maintain, and operate laboratory test equipment and environments Analyze test data and document results clearly and accurately Support integration activities, including use and modification of existing test automation scripts Support customer demonstrations and internal system validation activities Identify issues during testing and work with cross-functional teams to resolve them Participate in continuous improvement of test processes and lab capabilities
