They are owners, helping to shape the future of the company and the communities we serve.We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller with at least 5 years of cost and/or commercial construction accounting experience to join our team. The Assistant Controller collaborates closely with all members of the project team and with colleagues across the organization.Responsibilities include the following:· Serve a dual role as an integral part of both the project team(s) and Accounting team.· Timely and accurate preparation of owner billings and supporting documents, collection of payments, and responsibility for certain subcontractor compliance such as prevailing wage / PLA requirements.· Proactive, reporting accuracy of project billing and cost transactions, review of estimates and budgets including adjustments to projects· Ownership and review of project financial data with project teams· Supply and analyze financial data, providing insights about topics such as cost accruals, over/underbilling position, project cash position and receivables.· Set-up, review, and maintenance of labor rates and other project data.· Review and summarize owner contracts to understand accounting requirements.· Professionally interface with and respond to inquiries from outside parties such as clients and new vendors.· Other tasks that will be assigned as the need ariseQualifications We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented hands-on team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.The successful candidate will possess:· Excellent listening skills and strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative environment.· The ability to independently identify, analyze and resolve the most complex issues.· Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and in accounting cost management software; experience with DIR and Certified payroll submission, Procore and Textura applications are highly preferred.· 5+ years of experience as a cost accountant within the construction industry on complex projects.· Preferably bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional).· Familiarity with union and non-union labor requirements.· Demonstrate strong knowledge of job costing percentage- based accounting and project financial management.· Use Excel at an advanced level and work comfortably with construction accounting systems and various forms.· Manage multiple projects independently while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.· A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude· Ability to work extra hours when neededWhat’s in it for youOffered annual salary between $100,000 and $130,000Life Insurance paid 100% by the companyMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance401K with employer matching2 weeks of PTO to start and increases with the length of your employmentQuarterly profit sharingCompany sharesUnlimited learning opportunities
