Telecom Engineer

Telecom EngineerThis position is responsible for designing and overseeing the installation of various types of telecommunications equipment and facilities, such as complex network and switching systems, copper or fiber cabling, and RF transmission systems over satellite, microwave, and radio. The Telecom Engineer will assess situations, solve problems, and develop solutions using their knowledge of telecommunications systems. The role requires frequent visits to multiple job sites, some of which involve overnight travel.Essential functions include:Studying job specifications and completing site assessments to identify customer solutions based on cost, reliability, and maintainability.Developing project scopes, including design, site assessments, environmental studies, and field support services.Designing and implementing telecom systems for commercial or industrial purposes.Operating computer-assisted design software and equipment to complete engineering tasks.Estimating labor, material, and construction costs for budget preparation.Collaborating with designers and project managers to ensure detailed working drawings meet project requirements.Preparing telecommunication schematics and related documentation for drafting and specifications.Monitoring and analyzing system performance, including network traffic, security, and capacity.Staying current with industry practices and emerging technologies through educational programs, workshops, and professional networks.Addressing complaints or issues requiring design updates or scope changes for contingencies or change orders.Providing project status reports to teams, management, subcontractors, customers, and owners.Participating in project close-out meetings, documenting lessons learned and best practices.Mentoring and training project team members as needed.Ensuring all safety measures are met according to industry standards and company-specific training.Education and/or experience:5 years of Telecommunications experience5 years of CAD/Blue Beam ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Electrical EngineeringPE or Electrical Administrator License preferredOil and gas industry experience preferredKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Strong ability to create detailed design drawings and engineering packagesKnowledge of industry standards, including NEC, NESC, and EIA/TIAExperience with RF and satellite system designFamiliarity with fiber optic and copper network designUnderstanding of VoIP and RoIP applicationsExperience with remote power solution designProficiency with CAD, MS Office/Project, and other relevant softwareStrong troubleshooting and system optimization skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple complex projects independentlySelf-motivated and driven to achieve project goalsPhysical demand and work environment:The position may require working in remote cold areas, with exposure to harsh weather conditions.Frequent travel to job sites is required, some of which involve overnight stays.While performing duties, the employee may sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.The role may occasionally involve climbing ladders, using hands for typing, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
